The official website of the Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW anime film is streaming a Japanese-language trailer. The same website is still streaming the English-narrated and subtitled promotional video for the film’s screening at the Berlin International Film Festival. The film will open in Japan this summer.
This science-fiction film by the R.O.D. Read or Die anime franchise’s core team of director Koji Masunari, writer Hideyuki Kurata, and character designer Masashi Ishihama follows a group of children who experience a space-spanning adventure. The story will begin in the countryside during the summer vacation of fifth grader Natsuki Oyama. Natsuki just moved here in June, and she and four of her schoolmates are about to embark on an adventure together that will take them beyond the fields they call home.
The first teaser trailer for the Konch? Monogatari Mitsubachi Hutch ~Y?ki no Melody~ film remake of The Adventures of Hutch the Honeybee anime classic is now streaming on the film’s website. Kund? Koyama, the writer of the Oscar-winning film Departures (Okuribito), is producing the film with director Tetsuro Amino (Macross 7, Iron Leaguer, Broken Blade) and script writer/character designer Noah Kawai from the 1974 Konchu Monogatari Shin Minashigo Hutch sequel. The film will open in Japan on July 31.
The original anime followed a honeybee named Hutch who survives the destruction of his beehive by wasps. Hutch embarks on a journey to find his mother. The film will have a new story that deals with interactions with humans, as well as a new girl character named Amy.
