World leader in the women's 100 metres, Jamaica's Veronica Campbell-Brown, will be aiming for revenge tomorrow when she faces American sprint ace Carmelita Jeter in the penultimate Samsung Diamond League meet in Zurich, Switzerland.
Both athletes will be meeting for the third time this season. Campbell-Brown drew first blood at the Prefontaine meet in Eugene, Oregon, on July 3 winning the 100m in a world leading 10.78 seconds with Jeter third in 10.83.
Two weeks later at the Herculis meet in Monaco Jeter turned the tables scoring a runaway victory in 10.82 with Campbell-Brown well back in second, clocking 10.98.
This will be the Jamaican's first race since. Jeter who was defeated a week ago by countrywoman Marshevet Myers will be hoping to get back to winning ways and her clash with Campbell-Brown should bring out the best from her.
Among the men the 100m is off the programme and the big clash will be in the 200m where young sprint sensation Yohan Blake squares off with American Walter Dix.
second fastest man
Blake has been creating a storm this season in both the 100 and 200 metres. He is now the country's second fastest man over 200 metres after his 19.78 run behind American Tyson Gay (19.72) in Monaco.
Dix has season best times of 9.88 seconds for 100m and 19.72 over 200m. Jamaica's Steve Mullings will also face the starter in this event.
Also down to compete is sprint hurdler Dwight Thomas who is coming off a good second place in his last race behind world leader David Oliver. Despite cold and wet conditions in London Thomas clocked 13.22 seconds for his second place behind Oliver's 13.06.
Another highlight of the meet will be the men's 4x100 metres relay clash between world champions Jamaica and the United States. Despite not being at full strength as they will be missing both Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell, the Jamaicans should still be competitive.
fourth consecutive win
Kaliese Spencer, the Diamond League women's 400m hurdles leader, will be hoping to extend her four-point advantage over American Lashinda Demus in the event. The Jamaican will be seeking her fourth consecutive win in the event and will be hoping to inflict a second defeat on the American after toppling her in Monaco. Demus finished fourth after a stumble over the final hurdle.
Both Shericka Williams and Novlene Williams-Mills will be hoping for better performances after two lacklustre runs. They will compete against the top women in the 400 metres - Americans Allyson Felix and Debbie Dunn, Russia's Tatyana Firova and Amantle Montsho of Botswana.
