Sections of Downtown Kingston under curfew Police%20againSections of downtown Kingston remain under curfew on Monday morning as the police continue a major operation aimed at rounding up persons of interest and seizing illegal weapons.

The police/military teams are still conducting house to house searches in the area.

During an operation in the Matthew's Lane area Sunday, police personnel and soldiers detained just under 300 men and seized four guns as well as several hundred rounds of ammunition.

Some of the detainees were questioned and released while others are still being processed.

The three pistols were seized at a business place located on Princess Street.

The Security Forces also discovered several illegal electrical connections on the premises.

The home of the businessman located at Kirkland Heights in St. Andrew was later searched.

The security forces found a large sum of cash and a BMW X5 vehicle.

And it is not known if the extended curfew imposed by the police in sections of downtown Kingston will affect business and commercial activities Monday.

The curfew which commenced at 2 o'clock Sunday morning will continue until 2 o'clock Tuesday morning.

The boundaries of the curfew are: North along Charles Street from Rose Lane to Orange Street; South along West Queen Street from Rose Lane to Orange Street; East along Orange Street from West Queen Street to Charles Street.

It also continues West along Rose Lane from West Queen Street to Charles Street.

All persons within the boundaries are required to remain within their premises unless authorised in writing by a member of the security forces who is in charge of enforcing the curfew.
