The police have launched a manhunt for 22-year-old Romaine Davis of Torrington Park, Kingston 5, who escaped police custody at the Kingston Public Hospital
yesterday morning.
Davis is of fair complexion, medium build, about 175 centimetres (5'9") tall and sports a braided hairstyle.
Information reaching THE STAR is that about 1:30 a.m., Davis, who was admitted at the hospital under police guard after being shot in a shoot-out with lawmen, managed to break free of the handcuffs used to restrain him.
He immediately attacked the officer guarding the room he was in and ran from the institution and escaped. A search of the surrounding areas proved futile.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Davis is being asked to contact Kingfish at 811, Crime Stop at 311, police 119 emergency numbers or the nearest police station.
