Beaten after getting in spirit - Robbers say Chris Main

A 37-year-old woman on her way from church got the beating of her life, after she pleaded 'the blood of Jesus' against armed robbers who accused her of trying to cast spells on them.

THE STAR learnt that almost two weeks ago, the resident of Higgins Town, St Ann received several blows after she rebuked gunmen who had just relieved her of a cellphone, a ring and an undetermined sum of money, all this in full view of a number of persons who were enjoying a domino game not very far away.

Following the beating, the men reportedly returned all valuables, including the money, before making a hasty retreat.

Detective Corporal Xavier Cummings of the Area Two police told THE STAR that the woman and a group of alleged witnesses, contacted the police shortly after the incident.

Police say the woman recalled that she had just left church about 9 p.m. when she was approached by four masked men, two of who had what appeared to be guns concealed in black plastic bags.

The Christian woman said she immediately complied to the men's demands of her valuables.

She further revealed that as the men were about to leave, she 'got into spirit' and started pleading the blood of Jesus against her robbers. This did not go down well with the criminals.

"The woman said she started to say 'the blood of Jesus is against you' and started speaking in tongues...The next thing she knew was that they all started hitting her," Detective Corporal Cum-mings recalled.

The victim was reportedly hit to the ground, stomped upon and hit several times by the men, who questioned if she was an obeah woman.

"The woman said one of the robbers asked if a obeah she a wuk pon dem before they started beating her," the detective added.

The men eventually threw her possessions back to her before running off. The woman is reportedly doing well after having to nurse a few swellings and bruises.pg[/img]
