World Junior champion Dexter Lee indicated his readiness to defend his 100 metres title at next month’s championships with a world leading run at the National Junior Athletics Championships at GC Foster College on Saturday.
Lee equaled his world leading and personal best of 10.20 seconds to win the under-20 boys 100 metres ahead of Kemar Bailey-Cole 10.61.
Siedatha Palmer clocked 11.79 to win the under 20 girls event while CARIFTA under-17 double sprint champion Odean Skeen clocked 10.80 to win his section.
Natoya Goule, presently 4th on the world junior list, clocked two minutes 09.51 seconds to win the under-20 girls 800 metres while Kevin White posted one minute 54.62 seconds to win the under-20 boys equivalent ahead of Jowayne Hibbert’s one minute 54.85 seconds.
World ranked Dwayne Extol returned 52.97 to win the under-20 boys 400 metre hurdles while Ristanna Tracey posted 58.16 seconds to win the under 20 girls equivalent.
National junior record holder Kemoy Campbell took the boys 5000 metres in 14 minutes 31.38 seconds.
Another national junior record holder Chad Wright heaved 61.07 meters to win the under 20 boys discus.
