Prime Minister avoids the press BruceMembers of the press were kept at bay on Saturday sought a response from Prime Minister Bruce Golding on the military/police incursion in West Kingston.

Mr. Golding was attending the funeral service for Robert Williams who was Jamaica Labour Party Councillor for the Norbrook Division in St. Andrew.

The media fraternity wanted comments from the Prime Minister on the operation which resulted in the death of 73 civilians and a soldier.

They also wanted to hear if Mr. Golding would respond to claims by former Prime Minister Edward Seaga that his leadership is a major failure in respect of the extradition of his constituency strongman Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.

But that was not to be as heavily armed security personnel prevented the reporters from getting near Mr. Golding who was quickly whisked away.

Mr. Golding has not spoken on the offensive which began last Monday.

Meanwhile scores of persons attended the funeral service at the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church on Shortwood Road, Kingston 8.

Mr. Williams' body, which had stab wounds, was found at the intersection of Norbrook Road and Norwood Mews shortly before midnight on May 3.

On Saturday Mr. Williams was remembered as a man who gave back to his community.

Member of Parliament for St. Andrew North Central and JLP General Secretary Karl Samuda who delivered the remembrance - told the congregation Mr. Williams was a hard worker.

And for his part as JLP Leader, Mr. Golding noted that Mr. Williams' killing was no ordinary kind.

Scores of other members of the party also attended the funeral service.
