At the end of The Settlement, on Saturday night, Mr G buried L.A. Lewis under a barrage of new songs that he penned specifically for the famous graffiti artiste, while Queen Paula showed Lisa Hyper the value of experience in a mouth-watering clash.

The Settlement, which was held at Links in St Thomas, suffered from a poor turnout and a late start. The turnout could have been due to intermittent rain that threatened to postpone the event. When the show got underway after 2:30 am, the crowd was already asking for the advertised 'clashes' to start.

At the highly anticipated event, the main clash of the night pitted Mr G against the phlegmatic wannabe deejay L.A. Lewis. In the end, Mr G outclassed his opponent in an entertaining clash, which was the best of the night. Mr G easily defeated L.A. Lewis, the wannabe artiste with some cunning lyrics, labelling him as L.A. Chewis while saying uncharitable things about the Lewis' sexual preference.

"Is not for eating But L.A. Lewis seh di juice sweet him," said Mr G to loud cheers from the audience. L.A. Lewis wilted under Mr G's lyrical assault, and at about 10 minutes into the clash he threw in the white towel, when he repeated a lyrical salvo he had pitched earlier.

But Lewis' dying moment came when Mr G revealed to the crowd that he had a police friend, who investigated Peter King's death and leaked some juicy information. "Him seh that over Peter King's bed are the words, LA. LEWIS WAS HERE," Mr G said. as Links roared.

Putting the final nail in Lewis' coffin, Mr G asked the crowd for a moment of silence to mark the passing of his shameless opponent before playing I Octane's Lose A Friend, with the crowd begging for Lewis to be buried in an all-white casket that was on the stage.

In the all-female duel, Queen Paula was up against a confident Lisa Hyper (formerly Lisa Hype). Queen Paula's opening lyrics, a gun tune about squeezing a shot in Lisa Hyper's neck, was met with a chorus of boos.

unflustered

Queen Paula was unflustered as Lisa Hyper entered to cheers from her supporters.

Hyper's supporters cheered enthusiastically when she deejayed, "Seh new clothes come ina barrel fi people wear, but mi neva know seh barrel could a wear clothes." The cheers were louder when she chimed "Paula, mi will kill yuh and come a yuh nite/play domino and drink Street Vybz."

During the clash Lisa Hyper repeatedly referred to Queen Paula as a grandma. Paula responded by bending over and touching her toes to show that she was still fit. Lisa Hyper declaration that "mi live a ÉLane and yuh live a Old Hope Road' was met with a few groans of disappointment and shouts of encouragement.

When Queen Paula chimed, "Mi nah É fi buss." The crowd cheered as the line seemed to strike a chord with them. From then on, Paula went on to dominate the clash as the crowd turned against Lisa Hyper when Queen Paula threw salvos at Lisa Hyper's manager Nuffy, the crowd went wild.

Lisa Hyper deejayed a version of her song Worst Nightmare, and got a muted response. With Queen Paula now in the ascendancy she declared: "yu and yu manager dead." As the crowd buzzed with excitement, anticipating a victor.

Paula then praised the girls who had tattoos before deejaying "Lisa put di É weh har mouth deh." The Settlement crowned her victor as they cheered loudly.
