A St Ann woman is now dead and a taxi operator battling for life after they were both attacked in what is believed to be related to a love affair gone wrong. The alleged attacker is on the run.
The dead woman has been identified as Retrina Smeikle and is believed to be about 25 years old from Devon district, Lime Tree Gardens, Brown's Town.
Reports reaching THE STAR are that sometime after 4 p.m. on Sunday, Smeikle had an altercation with her attacker. The taxi operator, it is said, came to her home to help her move out her things, but both were reportedly attacked and chopped several times. Smeikle died on the spot, while the taxi operator has been admitted to hospital, where he is currently battling for life.
The Brown's Town police are investigating the matter and are currently searching for the man believed to be behind the attack.
