After years of rivalry, Beenie Man said the truce that has been called between himself and Bounty Killer is a real one and not an act being put on by them.

When contacted by THE WEEKEND STAR, Beenie Man explained that he is pleased with the unity between himself and Bounty Killer. He said that when they were told to call a truce via an external party, the peace is not likely to last. However, the fact that they came together as men, means that they are serious about making peace.

"It is actually real," Beenie Man told THE WEEKEND STAR. "This one is real, honest. This is not for any hype or anything 'cause wi nuh really need no hype 'cause hype only talk bout for three months and then it stop," he said, noting that the business needs them to be positive.

The two have been at odds since 1993 when Bounty accused Beenie of piracy. They also squared off at Sting in 1993 and have been bitter rivals since.

Earlier this month, Bounty Killer invited Beenie Man to perform with him at Guinness Summer Eclipse that was held at The Jungle in Negril. Then, they performed together at Fully Loaded a week later.

But this is not the first time they have declared peace, as they did this before, hugging in a televised meeting in 1994 and exchanging songs onstage at Sting in 1995.

Nonetheless, Beenie Man says the song that they are doing together since calling the truce should be released by next week, as he has already done his part and is waiting on Bounty Killer to complete his. He said the song is being produced by Leftside and is a 'girls song'.

In addition, the artiste, who turns 38 years old on Sunday, will be celebrating his birthday at The Building, New Kingston, tomorrow.

He says, "It always feels good to celebrate another birthday. Nuff people nuh live to see this age, so you have to be very happy."

Beenie Man will also be celebrating his wedding anniversary on Sunday. "Di anniversary different," he said, noting that it will be celebrated privately.

And when asked if he was working on his marriage with D'Angel, his response was "pretty much".

As for his career, Beenie Man says it is going very well after decades in the music business.

"Mi get back two number ones for the summer (I'm Ok and Drinking Rum and Red Bull featuring Fambo). Things are going on fine for my career. All the songs that I sing over the last three months going on good," he said noting that some of the songs that were not as popular in Jamaica went to number one in other countries.

Beenie Man also mentioned his newest album, King In Control, that will be released by November.

He says the public can expect "nothing but the best. You know when mi put out an album, you can play it inna yuh car and nuh skip a song".
