Deputy Commissioner of police, Linval Bailey, was reported to be among seven persons who sustained injuries during a two-vehicle collision along Dyke Road in Portmore, St Catherine, yesterday.
The WEEKEND STAR was informed that DCP Bailey sustained a broken right leg and injuries to his face.
Andrew Spence, a passenger travelling in the Toyota Prado motor car driven by DCP Bailey, received head injuries and is in serious condition at the hospital.
THE WEEKEND STAR was told that about 6:50 p.m. the Toyota Prado was travelling towards Kingston when it was hit by a Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV travelling in the opposite direction. The Vitara is said to have drifted into the path of the Prado resulting in a head-on collision.
Five occupants were reportedly travelling in the Prado and two in the Suzuki.
The passengers of both vehicles reportedly sustained injuries and had to be taken to the Spanish Town and Kingston Public hospitals where they were admitted.
Emergency services responded promptly to the scene of the accident.
