Flow, Jamaica's broadband communications provider, unveiled a new suite of business services for Jamaican customers, including a Hi Tec, E-Commerce Data Park in Curacao for offshore data storage and protection, at a briefing with senior journalists yesterdayat its head office in New Kingston.

Explaining the relevance of a Facility of this nature, Sharon Roper, Director of Marketing explained, "Our region unfortunately is prone to natural hazards such as hurricanes and earthquakes. During any particular disaster of this nature, a country can lose vital business and social data, spanning decades, in a matter of minutes. We have to plan ahead and we must put in solutions to protect sensitive and valuable data", she said.

Flow's E-Commerce Park in Curacao is a 24-hour forever on Network Operations Center with specialized services for asset protection, data residency and privacy. Located outside of the hurricane belt and earthquake zone, the Facility offers solutions for disaster recovery and business continuity which includes rack and caged space for equipment, off site data storage, as well as full data replication services. According to Roper, what is also critical is that Flow has made these services extremely affordable for customers. "There are customized packages, including virtual data storage, that offer cost effective solutions for businesses looking to protect their data," she says. Roper also stated that a number of Jamaican companies are already taking advantage of the services and have already bought solutions to protect and back up their data.

The ECP off shore facility is part of the broader network owned and operated by Flow's Parent Company Columbus Communications, that provides a low latency, high capacity, fibre optic broadband network to over twenty two countries in the region. Through this infrastructure Flow directly connects Jamaica to both North and South America making Jamaica's redundant data connection the most resilient in the region.

"We are very please to make good on our commitment to leverage our network to offer business a high capacity, cost effective alternative for their data and telecommunication needs.. We look forward to seeing many more businesses take advantage of the Facilities and continue to establish Jamaica as an industry leader," sad Roper.
