The Opposition People’s National Party says it wants more to be done to ensure that the families in the areas affected by the current operations of the security forces are able to access basic amenities.

Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller says she is concerned for the women, children, elderly and those with disabilities, and their need for access to food, water, proper clothing and sanitation.

The Opposition Leader has also expressed regret to the families and friends of those members of the Security Forces as well as civilians who have been killed or injured in the operations.

Mrs. Simpson-Miller says while the Opposition understands the difficult circumstances, under which the security forces are operating, the security personnel must carry out their duties with respect for law abiding citizens.

She says the government must also ensure that the dignity of the dead is respected.
