Cavalier Soccer Club defeated Major League outfit Greenwich Town 1-0 in the Claro/ Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Jackie Bell KO Confederation final, at the Spring Complex, Constant Spring, yesterday.
With both teams showing little commitment to attack, the game reflected its insignificance from the opening whistle. The teams had already qualified to represent KSAFA in the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) all-island knockout championship, by virtue of reaching the final.
They will both receive $50,000 to assist with preparations for the competition.
The first real goalscoring opportunity did not come until the 42nd minute when Greenwich Town played a series of one touch passes, before Shamar Allen got off a shot. But Cavalier's custodian, Delroy Richards, dived to his right and parried the ball wide.
It took a 64th-minute penalty shot from Cavalier substitute, Locksley Thompson, to break the deadlock in the 84th minute after Greenwich Town's Michael Sinclair, who also came on in the 64th minute, had brought down Fabian Swaby.
Both teams will now turn their attention to their respective leagues before taking their places in the quarter-finals of the all-island knockout competition.
The quarter-final round will commence on January 19 and will see the two KSAFA confederation qualifiers being joined by KSAFA's six Digicel Premier League teams: Arnett Gardens, August Town, Boys Town, Harbour View, Tivoli Gardens and Waterhouse.

The teams will play on a home-and-away basis with the winners on aggregate, advancing to the semi-finals and eventually the finals. Cavalier's opponents in the next round will be Waterhouse, while Greenwich Town will face Boys' Town.
Lamar Morgan, assistant coach of Cavalier, believes that playing against the Premier League teams will provide a good test for his team.
"It is going to be a good test for us to see where we are at," Morgan said. "I think the game was fairly good; we made nine changes so the team did not play with as much chemistry but I think we must also give credit to the Greenwich Town team."
Greenwich Town's coach, Stephen Taylor, hopes his team will learn from their mistakes.
"All we have to do is just learn from our mistakes, go back to the drawing board and work out ourselves and work from there," Taylor said. "It was a good performance; we got chances and never put them away as usual."
