A Portland woman is in hospital and another on the run following a 'hot porridge attack' in a community in the parish known as Big Land.

The attack follows a disagreement between the women over money owed from a 'partner' plan.

THE STAR heard that the injured woman, Mickesha, 30, will need surgery after she was doused with a pot of the hot liquid last Thursday.

A large portion of the her skin was reportedly removed after she tried to rub off the porridge, a corporal from the Portland police told THE STAR. "It's not a pretty sight, it was a hot porridge attack ... The porridge took off a good amount of her skin," the police source commented.

The corporal said police are looking into arguments which suggest that the attack was the result of an argument between Mickesha and the 'banker' in the partner plan.

It is said that the injured woman was to collect $75,000 from the plan for the past three weeks but had not received the money.

owed money

Both women were said to be in constant talks as to when the money would be paid over but other persons in the plan were said to have owed money and as such the full amount was not yet garnered.

Mickesha reportedly grew tired of waiting and last Wednesday is said to have threatened the banker and even gave a deadline of today.

Last Thursday evening, however, as Mickesha walked through the community and passed the home of the banker, she was attacked with the cornmeal flavoured porridge.

The attacker immediately fled the scene and has not been since.

Meanwhile, residents say the incident is very surprising. "Nobody neva expect dat, all now wi still a wonder why it happen ... . A long time now di girl a run partner an she neva rob nobody yet, so wi nuh know how things reach so far til all threat a send," 26-year-old Keisha Willocks, a resident of the community, told THE STAR.
