Goal a game Bailey
Glendon 'Admiral' Bailey

A goal a game, that is what Tivoli Gardens coach Glendon 'Admiral' Bailey is demanding from his charges as their Digicel Premier League title pursuit continues in earnest.

Bailey, who watched his team battle tooth and nail in a 1-1 draw with title rivals and long-time foes Waterhouse, inside their Edward Seaga Sports Complex fortress last evening, wasn't overly fascinated by the final score, but consoled himself with the fact that his team once again found their way on the scoresheet.

This is after all a direct charge from the vocal tactician, and his team has been obliging for the most part, hitting the target in all but three of their 19 games and leading the league with goals scored, 37 so far.

"We demand from our team that they at least score a goal in each game, because we can't have this sort of firepower up front and end up losing 1-0 or 2-0, it (score) should at least be 2-1 or 1-1 or better yet, we go on and win that game by outscoring our opponents. We have to score goals," said Bailey, who wasn't exaggerating in his reference to his team's firepower.

most fearsome attack

With the likes of national strikers Navion Boyd and Devon Hodges, midfield maestro Keammar Daley, Roland Dean and the very able Kwame Richardson and Kevin Deerr all on the books, Tivoli Gardens boast the most fearsome attack in the land.

"With such firepower you expect to put away your chances when you create them but the good thing about it is that we got a goal out of this game," said Bailey.

"We should always score so where that is concerned, the guys responded so I am happy."

That goal game came from the boot of Daley, who wrapped his foot around a 25-yard free kick to send his shot over the six-man wall and under the left hand side of the crossbar to give his side the lead after 21 minutes. Waterhouse's Jonathan Williams equalised for his team in minute 69 to send the ding-dong battle between both teams into another round. The win saw Tivoli keep their lead at the top of the DPL, moving to 37, while Waterhouse stayed second on 35.

In other games Humble Lion condemned St Georges to yet another loss with a 2-0 win at Effortville, Arnett got by Benfica 1-0, Portmore clipped Sporting Central 1-0, while Boys' Town registered their first win at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex by beating Harbour View 2-1.
